Classroom Management Plan

My primary goal as an elementary educator is fostering professional relationships among students, parents, and the community. My initial step in doing so is sending out an introductory newsletter that details who I am, key topics of learning for the year, expectations, donation list, and methods of communication. Along with this letter, students and parents will receive a questionnaire. The student questionnaire will consist of questions that require students to metacognitively reflect on their abilities as a learner, as well as, aspirations for the class. The student survey will be adapted for various grade levels. For example, Kindergarten students will create a pictorial about themselves in addition to having an individual conference with me. The parent questionnaire will comprise of logistical questions like modes of communication and languages spoken at home, as well as, things that the parents want me to know about the child. This survey will be sent out in the home language. Please see below for exemplar surveys.

Future contact with parents will be held in multiple ways. Bi-monthly newsletters will be sent out to parents representing key learnings and student work. Families will also be exposed to updates through their student's Seesaw portfolio. On Seesaw, parents will be able to see what their student has been working on that day. I also aim to contact two parents a week with praises about his or her student. For specific questions or concerns that a family might have regarding his or her student, they will have the ability to call, e-mail me, or message me through the class Remind application. In-person and Skype conferences will be held as needed.
